Agreements

The Federal University of Goiás (UFG), through the Research Support Foundation (FUNAPE), and the University of Brasília (UnB), through the Foundation for Scientific and Technological Enterprises (Finatec), have signed an agreement with Axia Mineração S.A. to develop technical-scientific activities focused on mineral exploration in the state of Goiás, with emphasis on a copper deposit located in the municipality of Bom Jardim de Goiás.

The objective of the agreement is to deepen knowledge about copper mineralization in the region through geological, geochemical, geophysical, and structural studies. The area holds strategic importance, considering the role of metallic minerals in the energy transition and the development of clean technologies.

The work plan includes petrographic analyses, electron microscopy studies, sample quality control (QA/QC), geological mapping, 3D modeling, geostatistical studies, and geophysical surveys. Faculty members and students from UFG and UnB are involved in the project, supported by academic scholarships and the use of laboratory infrastructure from the participating institutions.

This agreement strengthens the ties between universities and the productive sector, promoting scientific and technological advancement, the training of specialized professionals, and the sustainable development of Brazil’s mineral sector.
