On January 27, 2025, Axia Mineração S.A. and the University of Brasília formalized an agreement at Finatec, establishing a significant scientific collaboration focused on investigating mineral deposits in the states of Goiás and Tocantins. This initiative aims to deepen geological knowledge of the region while promoting the sustainable development of mining.

With an emphasis on innovation and technological advancement in the sector, Axia Mineração seeks to expand its understanding of local mineral resources. To achieve this, the partnership includes the participation of Professors Marcelo Leão dos Santos and Welington Borges, along with their students, combining academic expertise with the company’s experience in the mining industry.

The agreement is being facilitated through a research support foundation and will begin with studies at a copper deposit located in Bom Jardim. The first phase of the project has already identified strategic targets for geophysical data collection, encompassing fieldwork, and laboratory investigations.

In addition to driving mineral research, this collaboration strengthens the exchange between academia and the private sector. As part of the project, scholarships will be offered to students, providing them with a hands-on, immersive experience in a real research environment, facing the inherent challenges of the industry.
