ANM MINING PROCESS N°861.332/2021
Project and Project Location
- Total area of 1,957.93 hectares in the north of Goiás, municipality of Niquelândia.
Mineral History and Development:
- Founded in 1735 as São José do Tocantins, Niquelândia began with gold mining and became known for its large finds, such as the 20 kg nugget recorded by German naturalist Johann Emanuel Pohl. The city became a nickel mining hub after World War II, with the discovery of a large deposit, leading to its renaming.
Current Mining Activity and Business Interest:
- With a rich and complex geology, Niquelândia attracts mining companies to explore for gold and nickel. The area went from intense mining activity in the 1980s and 2000s to in-depth research and development of mining operations by companies, while mining persists sporadically.
Research Objective:
- Mineral occurrences in the area, with a focus on gold.
Results and Continuity Plan:
- Targets of interest defined for gold, with presence of hydrothermal alteration zone.
Continuation of sampling, drilling and geochemical analyses and technical and economic feasibility studies.
Partial Research Report filed with the National Mining Agency.
