Project and Location:
- Total area of 396.97 hectares in the northern region of Bahia, in the municipality of Ponto Novo.
Research Objective:
- Mineral occurrences in the area, with a focus on gold.
Results and Continuity Plan:
Geologically, the region is located in the Itabuna-Salvador-Curaçá Belt, close to the border with the Jequié Block. Here there are Neoarchean migmatitic and granitoid cores with supracrustal sequences, composed of basalts, chert, quartzites, formations and banded iron ore.
The geological context is promising, since the main gold deposits in the world are associated with granite-greenstone terrains such as those that occur in the region where the area is located; in addition to this, there are dozens of historical mining occurrences distributed along the Jequié Block.The area is in the initial stages of research, but has shown good results. Axía has been working on the plan to continue surface geochemical sampling, detailed mapping, diamond drilling and technical and economic feasibility studies.
